Six cozy games for a grey afternoon

Not every session needs to be a test of skill. Some evenings you just want something gentle that asks nothing of you, and mobile is quietly full of games built for exactly that mood.

Exploration adventures like Hollow Tide Expedition are my go-to. No combat, no fail state, just sailing between islands with good headphones. Slow puzzlers without timers fit the same slot, letting you think as long as you like.

Even some casual spinners qualify. The appeal is the lack of pressure — tap, watch something pretty happen, repeat. The best cozy games understand that doing nothing stressful is the entire point.

Keep one or two of these on your phone as a reset button. After a long day they beat doomscrolling, and you might even finish feeling a little better.
