Emberfall Chronicles
★★★★★ 4.7
Emberfall Chronicles is the kind of RPG that respects your time without dumbing itself down. Combat is turn-based, readable, and quick enough to handle on a bus, but the branching dialogue is where it earns its hours. I made an offhand decision in the second town and watched a whole questline shut behind me three chapters later.
The party of five each has a distinct voice, and swapping members in and out changes how scenes play out. Building loadouts is genuinely fun, with a skill tree that encourages weird hybrids rather than one obvious best path.
My only gripe is the inventory screen, which gets cluttered fast. Everything else — pacing, writing, the hand-painted backgrounds — holds up beautifully.
