Hollow Tide Expedition
★★★★★ 4.6
Hollow Tide Expedition is quiet and a little melancholy, in the best way. You sail a small boat between islands, uncover fragments of a sunken civilisation, and slowly piece together what happened to the people who lived here. There's no combat; the tension comes from weather and the unknown.
The map fills in as you explore, and I loved the sense of a world slowly becoming legible. Puzzles are environmental and gentle, more about observation than logic. The ambient soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting.
If you want action, look elsewhere. If you want a game to get lost in with headphones on a rainy evening, this is a lovely one.
What we liked
- Beautiful, moody exploration
- Gentle environmental puzzles
